Rosa DeLauro, Congresswoman (CT, D-3), Visits Spectrum to Support U.S./Local Manufacturing
Connecticut's very own Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Third-District, visited Spectrum Associates to announce that she that wants the US Department of Defense to no longer award the more than $1 billion in no-bid contracts to Russia's state-owned defense contractor.
Spectrum receives about fifty percent of their business from contracts with Sikorsky aircraft of Stratford, making components and executing assembly work for helicopters. DeLauro clearly supports local US manufacturers.
Marc Driscoll, Sales and Marketing Director for Spectrum, remarked "We appreciate Rosa visiting us, and supporting Spectrum as well as other Connecticut manufacturers."
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro also announced the new Rosoboronexport Embargo Act of 2014, a bill that would prohibit any federal government funds from going to the company that accounts for 80% of Russia's arms exports.
In addition to a room full of Spectrum personnel, the local media was on hand to gather news on the event, including Paul Murnane from CBS.
